Painting exhibition by Ana Parreira
In the 70s and 80s in Cascais, Ana Parreira formed part of the same artistic and intellectual gathering to which Michel Giacometti belonged. Both share an extraordinary intimacy with Alentejo, Michel through musicology and Ana through visual expression, namely painting, design, sculpture and performance. “I remember Michel would say to me that i should be obligated to work full time in painting, without being involved in other activities. That’s not what happened, looking back over time, i can confirm though that i never stopped, painting has always been for me a necessity”.
Special participation of the Ethnographic Choir Group Alma Alentejana.

The dance of the Pauliteiros could well have originated from the warriors of the Celtic era. The dances “Lhaços”, considered choreographically unique worldwide, portray the nature of different agricultural subjects, with an emphasis on social issues, warriors, love and religion, amongst others. The first official documents regarding the Folkloric group the Pauliteiros de Cércio refer to its displacement in London in 1933. The costume models worn by the group then are the same used today. Since then, despite having suffered from the immigration in the 1960s, they were invited to the best folkloric festivals in the world, maintaining the spirit of their ancestors and sharing the traditional dance in their blood.
